For IBM Watson, it may be interested to review the Watson Conversation service (https://console.ng.bluemix.net/catalog/services/conversation). This recent service is directly focused on building chatbots using NLP.

We’ve built two bots on the platform and are pretty happy with the ease of customization and extension.

That was quite a bit of detailed article on NLP techniques for bot makers. Certain bot tools allow you to make a bot without having to code. Have you heard about them ?

Amazon Lex uses “Slot Types”. See the official developer docs: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/lex/latest/dg/gs2-create-slot-types.html

To be true I didn’t have a chance to test it yet but from what I know it should have and entity extraction features.

I think about it as a router that helps you connect different API to get information into different channels to publish it. But there is no cognitive services inside Bot Builder itself, that’s why I didn’t mention it here. Still it looks like a great way to connect all services together, especially if you bind in MS esocystem (Skype, Office, etc)

I realize LUIS, API, Wit, etc. handle NLP and NLU… what capabilities does Bot Builder enable?
